Any reason to upgrade before end of trial?
We're going to upgrade a development machine to Vista when it comes out, and I'm getting ready to install Beta 2 on an idle machine with an AGP slot. The machine qualifies for everything except Aero glass. Can anyone recommend a graphics card (preferebly with dual analog out) that will support Aero Glass in Vista

Windows Vista Beta 1 安装留念
Had beta 1, 2, and 3 on here before installing Vista Ultimate. Just quit the other day. My system is; Pent IV 2.8Ghz, Intel 865perl motherboard, 2G ram, Windows AERO Glass requires that you have a minimum of 128 MBs video RAM that is Direct X 9 compliant and supports the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM).

Aero Glass
Deep in Redmond, Wash., Vista Beta 2 Build 5381 is training hard, one might even say frantically, as it tries to get ready for its January debut. This is Vista with all of its entourage, including the famed Aero Glass 3D interface. Others however, have found that Vista doesn't work well with some device

Andre Da Costa andre...@hotmail.com microsoft public windows developer winfx general I am using Aero DWM 24-7 with my nVidia Geforce 5200 FX. Just wondering if anyone tried out the Aero Glass interface yet, preferbly with an official Nvidia or ATI beta-Vista driver.... If so how is it?

AERO Gui Framework
I just discovered this the hard way... if you want to see Aero Glass on Windows Vista Beta 1, don't install an ATI X700 or X800 AGP card. The drivers that ship with the beta (and those available on the ATI site) only support the PCI Express version of these cards. I discovered, after I bought an X700 AGP card,

Aero won't run.

Aero graphics card?
I've been on beta-test teams before and even though code isn't optimised etc, the intended computer which will run the code fluidly has often been very high-end when the Maybe if Aero-Glass is disabled it'll be okay. Responsiveness is critical i understand, so no graphics lag is going to be easily tolerated.

Getting Ready for Windows BETA 2 - QuickStarter
... Vista to XP is that Vista definately requires a much better video card. Yep and I've upgrade my vcards. For my purposes...I'm not yet ready to go with Vista as my daily OS... It's been my main OS for well...since #5380 or 84...can't really remember the exact beta number. That's almost 1 year (I think). Frank.

What is the problem when you install Windows Vista Beta 1, and you don not see the transpacence of the graph. If you mean you are not seeing the glass effects then The Aero glass effects are a function of the new device drivers we are working with (referred to LDDM). I am not going to get drawn on the technical

I see lh beta is going to be much more prettier than 5048 delivered on WinHEC 2005. Showed at TechED 2005 builds were driven full Glass windows. Will you again lock them by registry? If the machine being used for Beta1 is of a supported configuration then the Aero Glass theme should be enabled.

Vista starts to roll out
Can you use Aero in a VM without a Vista-supported hardware graphics card? No, there was a hack in the beta, but it was buggy. (to say the least) If so, is using VPC actually a workaround for people whose computers don't have a Vista-supported graphics card? It's not a workaround for that. The only way to get Glass

Well that is not strictly true :-) Depending which build is used for Beta 1 we do have Aero Glass on machines with the right specification and LDDM support. -- Regards, Mike -- Mike Brannigan [Microsoft] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights Please note I cannot respond to
